Dr. Gene Sullivan, ND

Dr. Sullivan trained in holistic medicine to understand best how to support the body’s own ability to heal and to provide solutions that enhance this process. Identifying both causes and solutions for health conditions that support the immune system, decrease inflammation, identify and reduce environmental toxicities and exposures, and reduce or eliminate pain are all part of his day-to-day. To do this, he encourages patients to become part of the decision-making process. He uses a “whole person” approach in determining the most effective treatment plan that supports a return to health.

Dr. Sullivan has a particular interest in finding solutions for treatment-resistant health conditions. He places particular emphasis on determining the fundamental cause(s) of an illness to ensure that solutions are both appropriate and comprehensive. Equally important, Dr. Sullivan sees his role as both a doctor and as an educator. He understands the need for clear and relevant communication. An important component of his treatment is to teach strategies thatnhelp empower patients to more effectively manage their own health.
Dr. Sullivan has been practicing for more than two decades. He is educated in the liberal arts, heath sciences, psychotherapy and natural medicine. He is board-certified to practice in Maryland, California and New Mexico. He is fluent in English and French.
In addition to his formal University and College education, Dr. Sullivan has trained extensively in multiple unique healthcare modalities. These include Gestalt Therapy, Neuro-Linguistic Programming (NLP), Therapeutic Drainage, German Biological Medicine, Auricular Medicine, Intravenous Nutrient Therapy, Neural Therapy, Prolotherapy and Prolozone, and other therapies that address pain and inflammation, as well as a wide variety of acute and chronic health conditions.

Alice Prescott Sullivan, DO

I am an osteopathic physician with board certification through the American Osteopathic Board of Family Physicians. I also hold certificates in functional medicine from the Institute for Functional Medicine, and in medical acupuncture from the Helms/UCLA Acupuncture School For Physicians. My special interests are in treating chronic conditions, including infections, toxicities, and endocrine and immune dysregulation. Patients come to me for chronic fatigue, Lyme and co-infections, mold and MCAS, post-Covid and other viral syndromes, chronic GI conditions, and autism.

I have been in practice since 2003 and have spent the past 15 years in integrative medicine. Before coming to Columbia, I had a wide variety of clinical experience, including family medicine in New Zealand, homeless shelters, monasteries in Myanmar, Native American reservations, and most recently, I worked at the Cleveland Clinic Center for Functional Medicine. These experiences have helped expand my cultural competencies. I lead with listening in my practice. I use a stepwise approach to care, taking a thorough health history and starting with basic self-care, moving on from there to more focused testing and treatments in a layered approach through a series of visits.

As appropriate, I can use specialized treatments such as IV therapies, trigger point injections, prolotherapy, ozone injections, as well as fundamental manual therapies. I like to work with my patients at their speed, as they can take on new habits and treatments that will help them regain their healthy balance.
